| Just decided to switch to xanga.com as my web-diary. My old one http://wl003j.blogspot.com has fewer functions than here. Anyway...
A relaxing Thursday. Just stayed in the room and sat in front of the computer the whole day. I got 3 packages this morning. They're all stuffs I've bought at Ebay earlier. The floral spaghetti strap dress looks very lovely but it's too tight. I can hardly zip up! The roses pattern is so pretty that I don't wanna re-sell it. I guess I'll try to get a matching cardigan to cover up the zip. As for the other silk skirt, the colour looks much darker than the picture and it actually has two side pockets. That makes the dress look kinda bulky and I look so chubby around my hip. Maybe I should put it back up on Ebay. Then, I bought two more items: a book and another silk dress. It seems like I'm very obsessed with silk. Its softness and sleekness appeal to me quite a bit. The novel is called "the Impressionist". It's a rather new book which has come out last March, exactly a year ago. I've been keeping an eye on this hardcover (the publisher doesn't issue any paperpacks!) for a whole year but the price has always been staying around 20 dollars in which it's a bit over-priced. And now, I got this review copy for only 6 bucks! Despite not having time to read, I would still wanna collect more books and read them later. Reading is definitely one of my favourite hobbies. Last week, I've borrowed a couple of pre-WWII and comtemporary novels by some Japanese authors. I've planned to spend this whole year exploring mainly on historical novels, and hopefully, I can experience something new by the end of the summer. A book review from this month's Scientific America titled "the Neurologist and the Philosopher" is about Antonio Damasio's "Looking for Spnoza: Joy, Sorrow, and the Feeling Brain". It sounds quite an interesting popular book that traces modern neuroscience learning back to a 17th century Dutch philosopher. These days, I've been a slacker since the beginning of the semester and I haven't spent a moment on leisure reading. I've stopped all the magazine subscriptions but I kinda wanna re-subscribe some of them. |
